AOD Converter

As a secondary steel process, AOD (Argon Oxygen Decarbuzation) Converter is the main advantage of the AKMETAL. Converter enables computerized injection of oxygen combined with argon and nitrogen, decarburizes (carbon removal) molten metal delivered by Electric Arc or Induction Furnace. Deoxidation (oxygen removal), desulfurization (sulphur removal) processes are carried out in AOD Converter to produce the cleanest and most homogeneous steel. AOD ensures low carbon ( < 0,010 %), low sulphur (< 0,003 %) and low hydrogen (< 2 ppm) for specialty alloy castings used in high demanding applications such as offshore, energy, defence, heavy-lifting and mining.
