Türkiye has introduced a regulatory update that improves cost efficiency in the metal casting industry.

Used casting patterns classified under HS Code 8480.30 have been removed from the customs duty scope. The exemption applies to patterns made of wood, aluminum, steel or iron, copper, and plastic.

As a result, tooling and pattern transfer costs are reduced, improving the total landed cost structure for casting projects.
This change directly reduces tooling, pattern procurement, and transfer costs, particularly for new project start-ups and repeat tooling.

From a procurement and supply chain perspective, casting projects executed in Türkiye can benefit from simplified import procedures, improved cost predictability, and enhanced competitiveness.

The exemption is expected to support more efficient project execution and positively impact overall project timelines and budgets.
